Clinical Research Fellow in Myeloma
The appointment will be on UCL Grade CL7. The salary range will be Grade: CL7 £35,023 – £43,583 per annum; StR Pay Scale: £35,570 – £51,215 per annum; Junior Doctors Pay Scale £39,492 – £49,239 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.
The UCLH Haemato-oncology programme is one of the largest in the UK, having unified with the Royal Free Hospital 3 years ago, with a total of 30 consultants and a large trials portfolio including an early phase programme run in a dedicated Clinical Research Facility. The plasma cell service sees over 160 patients a week, in 7 dedicated clinics and undertakes 120-130 autografts annually. Treatment protocols are streamlined, and constantly revised to incorporate the latest therapeutic advances and new agents. The purpose of this job is two-fold (A) to support the portfolio of academic clinical trials in myeloma, thereby providing training in all aspects of clinical research, and (B) to provide an opportunity to carry out a research project in myeloma, that may be laboratory based.
Depending on the applicants situation, the applicant will be appointed on either on CL7, or if the applicant is currently in training, he / she will be appointed at StR or Junior Doctor scales.
The post is funded for 2 years initially.
This post is suitable for a trainee who has completed at least 18 months of clinical training, has obtained at least Part 1 of the FRCPath, and wishes to gain experience in multiple myeloma, with a focus on clinical research activity. Candidates in possession of a post-graduate, or higher research degree, and who now seek to gain experience in more clinically based research, including the development of biomarker-driven projects and investigator-initiated studies, are especially welcome.
