Institute of Catalysis Research und Technology (IKFT)
Area of research:
Diploma & Master Thesis
The “Scale-up of Catalytic Processes" group at Institute of Catalysis Research and Technology (IKFT) focus its research in the conversion of CO2-rich syngas to fuel compounds and important chemicals such as methanol and dimethylether (DME) at lab-scale using both commercial and in-house prepared catalysts.
Our current work is targeting broad validation of the results from lab-scale experiments including reactor modelling and process simulation. The numerical simulations are performed using commercially available software, e.g. PRESTO-KINETICS, MATLAB, PHYTON, ASPEN and DETCHEM
Responsibilities involve:Literature research on application of artificial intelligence (AI) in kinetic modeling. Kinetic modeling of the methanol and DME synthesis First steps for hybrid kinetic modeling Statistical analysis of kinetic parameters
Chemical and process engineering or in a related area. Basic knowledge in technical chemistry, experience in programing (e.g. Matlab, Python…), as well as in catalysis are desired. Besides the professional qualification, strong commitment, independent and self-responsible working are expected.
