Fungal infections are among the most difficult to diagnose and treat and are increasing in prevalence due to immunosuppressive treatments and the AIDS pandemic. To address this need, the Madhani laboratory (madhanilab.ucsf.edu and @hitenmadhani) at the Mission Bay Campus at UCSF is recruiting for an Associate/Full Specialist with experience in microbiology, immunology, genomics and/or host-pathogen studies. The laboratory is a leader in these fields and has developed C. neoformans as a model system for investigating these questions for 15 years. The laboratory is affiliated with the Chan-Zuckerberg Biohub (czbiohub.org/investigators/) and there will be opportunities to interface with resources available at CZB. A two-year commitment is required. The position is supported by a newly-renewed 5-year major grant from NIAID/NIH and CZB support. Salary will be commensurate with the applicants experience and training.

The individual will work collaboratively with members of the laboratory to develop a new systems-level understanding of this important opportunistic fungal pathogen using state-of-the-art genome-wide throughput methods and a broad range of functional genomic assays including studies of infection.
