Job description:

The Central Institute of Engineering, Electronics and Analytics (ZEA-2: Electronic Systems) is a scientific and technical institute of the Forschungszentrum Jülich GmbH performing research and development projects in cooperation with the institutes of the Forschungszentrum and external partners. The focus of our work is the development of electronic and information technology system solutions in sensor- and detector technology, as well as measurement techniques. Our preferred approaches are silicon-based system-on-chip (SoC, highly integrated) solutions.

Your Job:Many active research fields like high-energy physics or medical applications demand high-performance data processing solutions with low noise, high bandwidths, and large linearity while having tight constraints on area and power budget. Integrated circuits offer the possibility to tailor a solution to these requirements with custom-designed CMOS components. Shrinking technology nodes and reduced leakage currents leads to a more effective and performant digital processing which in turn allows for larger and more complex digital designs. Within our team, we work both on mixed-signal design with custom analog and digital components in modern CMOS technologies.

Your tasks are especially:

Designing, verifying and implementing algorithms and digital designs for detector applicationsUsing software simulators with virtual prototypes on FPGA for the conception an creation of the design Implementing the synthesis and physical along with design sign-offarticipating in varying projects for interdisciplinary researchSelf-contained development of solutions

Your Profile:

Academic degree (Master) or equivalent in the fields of electrical engineering, physics or similarFirst experience with the hardware description language VHDL and verification methodologiesSpirit for team work in interdisciplinary and intercultural teams Good analytical skills and ability to independently find solutions
