Position available to study the role of gut mucosa-microbiota interaction in autoimmunity in the Laboratory of Dr. Chenthamarakshan Vasu. Project involves studies using human samples and rodent models to understand the impacts of innate immune-receptor and dietary-factor interactions with gut microbiota on immune regulation, inflammation and autoimmune onset, and therapeutic manipulation of these interactions. Studies will involve use of conventional and high-throughput proteomics and metabolomics using samples from human subjects, and development and use of genetically modified and germ-free murine models. Research activities will be complemented by specialized training in entrepreneurship.
Candidates must hold a recent doctoral degree or equivalent and be a U.S. citizen, non-citizen national, or permanent resident of the United States. Previous experience in mucosal immunity, autoimmunity and/or inflammation is preferred.
