New Haven, United States

We are seeking a highly motivated and creative postdoctoral associate to work in the Halene Lab in the Yale Comprehensive Cancer Center at the Yale University School of Medicine. The Yale School of Medicine is one of the world’s premier institutions committed to cutting-edge research and outstanding educational programs. MDS and Leukemia affect over 20,000 patients every year in the US. Mutations in splicing factors and alternative splicing are common in hematopoietic cancers. Alternative splicing and modulation of RNA processing play an essential role in MDS/leukemia and normal hematopoiesis. Dr. Halene directs the Hematology Tissue Bank and the Halene Lab is closely aligned with the clinical work in Hematology. The Halene lab is working to identify critical pathways related to splicing and RNA processing in both normal hematopoietic and leukemic stem cells. We study primary human MDS/AML and bone marrow failure in humanized mice with the goal to develop novel therapeutic approaches.
Broad research areas include:
- Determination of RNA regulators of hematopoietic stem cell maintenance and differentiation and their role in MDS/AML.
- Study of MDS and Leukemia biology in humanized mice.
- Development of novel therapeutics for MDS/AML.
- Study of inherited bone marrow failure and progression to MDS/AML.
