Institute for Translational Medicine (ITM), Qingdao University is located in seaside city Qingdao, one of the most beautiful cities of China. ITM has many investigators in various research fields including cell biology, molecular biology, genetics, etc.
ITM consists of six interdisciplinary research centers; Center for Developmental Cardiology, Center for Regenerative Medicine, Center for Tumor Molecular Biology, Center for Vascular Biology, Center for Cell-based Therapy, and Center for Translational Medicine. ITM has built advanced technology platforms for biomedical research, including the Platform for Stem Cells and Cell Biology Research, Center for Biological Imaging, Platform for High-throughput Sequencing, Platform for Nucleic Acid Drug Development, Platform for Molecular Biology Experiments and Center for SPF Animal Experiments. The major goal of the ITM is to explore the pathogenesis of human cardiovascular diseases and tumors, search relative therapeutic targets, develop novel strategy and drugs for prevention, diagnosis, and treatments of above-mentioned diseases, and bridge the gap between basic science and clinical practice for better translation of bench breakthrough to bedside therapy.
ITM research team has made a series of achievements in the field and published more than 90 papers in world-wide high-quality journals, including Nature Medicine, Nature Communication, Molecular Cell, Circulation Research, PNAS, Cancer Research, The EMBO Journal, Gene & Development, etc. The ITM has been in charge of a variety of scientific research programs, including the National Program on Key Basic Research Project (973 Program), the National Natural Science Foundation, and the National Science Fund for Excellent Young Scholars.
