The Zhong group at the Materials Biology Division in the School of Physical Science and Technology (SPST), ShanghaiTech University has immediate openings for research assistant professors or postdocs. The positions will focus on engineering living functional materials and new bionanotechnologies integrating the tools of synthetic biology, microbiology and materials science. We particularly welcome and encourage applications from outstanding candidates, who are self-confident, self-motivated and bold to pursue innovative, interdisciplinary and high-risky research. For candidates from different background, the lab will provide corresponding technical training. Our lab values the career development of each member and therefore will provide ample opportunities for our members to attend academic conferences or receive various scientific trainings.

Requirements: Ph.D. in Synthetic biology, Bionanotechnology, Material Science, Biomedical Engineering, Microbiology or related areas is required. Additional research experience involving one or more of the following areas/technologies will be a plus: AFM methodology, molecular or cellular biology, gene engineering, electrochemistry, protein engineering, bio-energy and high-throughput and/or robotic approaches for molecular biology or materials science.
