At the Faculty of Medicine of Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn, a
W3-University Professorship for Medical Informatics
is to be filled at the earliest possible date as part of the medical informatics initiative of the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF).
The Faculty of Medicine of the University of Excellence Bonn is planning a strategic development in the field of digital medicine in close cooperation with existing institutes (such as IMBIE and IGSB) and new structures yet to be established. As part of this strategy, the university is seeking an internationally recognized personality with a medical informatics focus who has an independent research profile in the utilization of high-resolution, multimodal or semi-structured data for investigating and improving the prediction and therapy of diseases. The applicant is expected to cooperate with clinical and central units of the Faculty of Medicine (e. g. the Biobank unit), the MWTek department (staff unit for Medical & Scientific Technology Development & Coordination) of the University Hospital as well as university and non-university institutions, e. g. the DZNE, CIO-ABCD or IAIS.
Experience in the management of a scientific working group, as well as experience in interdisciplinary cooperation and the active acquisition of third-party funds are expected. Habilitation or habilitation-equivalent achievements pursuant to Section 36 Higher Education Act NRW are a prerequisite. An additional advantage would be experience with clinical project partners. Active participation in the teaching and further development of curricula for medical students and other courses for improving digital competencies is explicitly expected.
The University of Bonn is committed to diversity and equal opportunity. The University of Bonn is a certified family-friendly university and has a dual career program. It aims to increase the proportion of women in areas where women are under-represented and to promote their careers in particular. It therefore urges women with relevant qualifications to apply. Applications will be handled in accordance with the State Equality Act. Applications by suitable individuals with a certified severe disability and those of equal status are particularly welcome.
Qualified applicants are requested to send the usual documents (cover letter, résumé, transcripts, certificates, list of publications) in German or English as well as a completed application form until 24th November, 2019, to the
