W3 Professorship for Plant Pathology
as of April 1st, 2022

Reference is made to § 61 Para. 7 Hessian Higher Education Act (HHG) and to conditions of employment based on § 62 HHG. Proficient knowledge of German is expected.

Duties:
The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching within the faculty’s BSc and MSc study programs with a particular focus on plant pathology, plant protection and plant biotechnology. Teaching in English-language international study programs is included.

Research is expected to focus on innovations in the field of plant pathology and plant protection, preferably on the control of microbial pathogens in agronomically relevant cultivated plants through the use of adequate, modern biotechnological methods such as genome editing and the use of biologicals (e.g. use of soil or root microbiomes) to amend chemical crop protection components. Intensive university-wide networking and research cooperation with other working groups, e.g. with plant breeding, plant cultivation or plant nutrition, is desirable.

Requirements:
Applicants have to display an excellent publication record in relevant, highly-ranked, international peer-reviewed journals in the fields of plant pathology, plant biotechnology or plant nutrition. Experience in acquisition and leadership of externally funded research projects and in research cooperation with internal and external partners on a national and international level is required.
