The Department of Physics and Astronomy at Heidelberg University invites applications for a
W3 PROFESSORSHIP FOR EXPERIMENTAL PHYSICS
We are looking for an internationally outstanding scientist with an exciting research program in Molecular Systems Engineering. The successful candidate should work especially on the physical interactions of nano- and micro-structured systems with their environment and on their fabrication and characterization with tools from physics and materials science. We are also very much interested in applications, e.g. in sensorics and actuation. The development of new experimental methods or instruments is expected. The successful candidate is also expected to teach on all levels in the fields of Experimental Physics and Molecular Systems Engineering and to participate in academic self-government. Participation in existing and planned collaborative initiatives is expected as well. A research building for the new Institute for Molecular Systems Engineering is on its way. Prerequisites for application are a university degree and (in accordance with Article 47, Paragraph 2 of the Higher Education Law of the Federal State of Baden-Württemberg) a habilitation, a successfully evaluated junior professorship or equivalent qualifications. Acquisition of third-party funding is desired. Heidelberg University seeks to achieve a higher proportion of women in areas where they have not been adequately represented so far.
