The Institute of Human Genetics (Director Prof. Markus M. Nöthen) of the Medical Faculty of the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms University of Bonn has a position available at the earliest possible start-date for a
W2-University Professorship of Immunogenetics
(Tenure Track System, Model 3)
The professorship is embedded in the DFG (German Research Foundation) Cluster of Excellence ImmunoSensation2. This represents an excellent scientific environment, with an internationally renowned focus on immunology.
Scientifically, the professorship is intended to strengthen the Cluster of Excellence with respect to the genetic basis of immune-related disease processes. The explicit aim of the professorship is to extend the existing interdisciplinary bridge with the research focus “Genetics and Epidemiology”. At the Institute of Human Genetics, the professor will have access to genomic high-throughput technology infrastructures, including next generation sequencing. Excellent opportunities exist for cooperation with the research groups of the cluster ImmunoSensation2; the German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases (DZNE); and the West German Genome Center.
The advertisement is addressed to physicians (m/f/d) and scientists (m/f/d) with outstanding scientific achievements, competitive third-party funding, and recognized qualifications in teaching. The successful applicant (m/f/d) will be expected to strengthen the research foci of the Medical Faculty and participate in research networks. In terms of teaching, the professor is expected to become involved in subject-specific degree programs and graduate schools, as well as in human medicine.
A prerequisite for the position is the Habilitation, or an equivalent scientific achievement according to Article 36 of the Higher Education Act North Rhine-Westphalia. Due to the tenure track option, the professorship can be rendered permanent following successful evaluation.
