The University Hospital for General, Visceral, Vascular and Transplant Surgery (Director: Prof. Dr. R. Croner) at the Medical Faculty of the Otto-von-Guericke-University Magdeburg invites applications for a position as
W2-professor in molecular and experimental surgery
The position can be filled immediately. The professorship is limited to 5 years. It is intended to extend the position after positive evaluation in the 4th year of employment.
The applicant will expand the research focus at the University Clinic for General, Visceral, Vascular and Transplantation Surgery and demonstrate collaborative engagement and research associations with other institutes.
The candidate’s research profile is expected to complement the scientific focus available at the Faculty of Medicine (immunology, including molecular medicine of inflammation; neuroscience). The research of molecular prognostic factors and predictors in tumor diseases and their immunological interaction mechanisms is of particular interest.
We are looking for an internationally profiled personality in the current field of molecular oncology with experience covering a wide range of methods, documented by publications in highly recognized journals and a strong record of success in extramural funding. The applicant should have experience in experimental studies using both large and small animal models and should demonstrate several years of experience as a group leader. Participation in translational basic research – also in the network of the Comprehensive Cancer Center – is expected. Experiences in research-oriented networks and in quality management in the area of research laboratories are desired. The successful candidate will also demonstrate a high level of commitment to undergraduate, graduate, and postdoctoral teaching and training. Recruitment requirements are a university degree in natural sciences or human medicine and a habilitation or equivalent academic achievements.
