The Medical Faculty of the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg is looking to appoint an outstanding individual to a

W1 professorship for “Digital Research Methods in Medicine” (tenure track W2) (f/m/d)

at the earliest possible.

Qualified applicants must be able to represent the field competently in research and teaching. The position is linked to the establishment and management of an independent working group. The focus of this professorship is on modern methods of data analysis, especially multidimensional data, with links to artificial intelligence and thereby complementary to the professorship Biomedical Data Science (focusing on medical informatics). In addition, the professorship is supposed to contribute to teaching of biometrics. He / She is expected to be committed to existing and planned research networks of the Faculty of Medicine, to the advancement of international collaborations, as well as to close scientific cooperation with the University Hospital Halle (Saale). Furthermore, cooperation with work groups of the faculty focusing either on health services research or biomedical sciences is essential.

Experience in the field of mathematical modeling of biomedical processes or computational epidemiology is requested. Knowledge of statistical methods and experience in applied data analysis are required.

The prerequisites for employment are a university degree in mathematics, statistics or a similar scientific discipline, a qualified doctorate in a field relevant to the position and documented achievements in research as well as teaching experience.

The duties of the job holder include the additional obligations specified in Paragraph 34 of the Higher Education Act of the State of Saxony-Anhalt (HSG-LSA).

The position will initially be filled for two three years as a temporary civil servant and will be allocated to the Dean’s Office. Successful evaluations after the third and sixth year, taking into account Paragraph 36 Section 3 Sentence 4 of HSG-LSA, can lead to a permanent appointment in the position of a W2 professorship, probably at the Institute for Medical Epidemiology, Biometry and Computer Science.
