The Faculty of Medicine at the University of Tübingen invites applications for a position at the Institute of Medical Microbiology and Hygiene, Department of Diagnostic Lab Medicine, as a
W1 assistant professor of Clinical Metagenomics (f/m/d)
(physician, scientist or bioinformatician)
In accordance with LHG § 51 (7) the position is initially limited to four years, with the possibility of extension by a further two years after a positive interim evaluation.
The position holder should be internationally recognized in the field of clinical metagenomics and microbiome analytics.
A strengthening of the research focus microbiology and infection research at the Faculty of Medicine is expected.
Required qualifications include an outstanding doctorate in a pertinent field, recognizable potential for internationally acclaimed publications in leading international peer-reviewed journals and third-party funding, as well as teaching experience and commitment in teaching. The position has a teaching load of four hours per week prior to interim evaluation and six hours thereafter.
Participation in teaching at the Faculty of Medicine is expected, especially within the framework of graduate programs.
This position provides the opportunity and expectation that, in the course of the six years of the contract, the W1 assistant professor will attain the research and teaching achievements that will qualify him or her for a subsequent appointment as a tenured professor at a university or equivalent institution.
