Tenure-track Scientist in the Area of X-ray Imaging and Computed Tomography
The Center for X-ray Analytics develops X-ray methodologies for understanding materials structure in life- and materials science. Our core activities are in the development X-ray methods especially in the field of X-ray imaging and 3D image analysis related to data treatment, 3D visualisation and simulation. We aim at understanding dynamical systems and processes and combining imaging with X-ray diffraction and scattering methods (XRD, SAXS).
In this tenure-track scientist position, you have the possibility to obtain a permanent position after successful evaluations after 2 and 4 years and to develop an international scientific profile.
You will perform R&D in the domain of X-ray imaging, with a focus on multi-contrast computed tomography, image analysis, modelling and Monte Carlo simulations. The focus of application is in the biomedical domain. You will write project proposals and help to acquire external funding and provide X-ray imaging and image analysis services to internal and external partners. Planning and leading scientific projects as well as an ongoing development of methods and equipment are part of this employment. You will present your scientific results through publications and on conferences and you will actively engage with scientific collaborators and industrial partners.
You have a university degree with a PhD in physics, applied mathematics or in computational science and bring a deep knowledge in X-ray imaging and image analysis methods. Experience in project management, writing publications and giving presentations is compulsory. We are looking for a person who is ambitious to make a scientific career, enjoys writing high-level scientific publications. Explicit experience with deep learning and artificial intelligence techniques for image analysis is a great advantage. Knowledge in C/C++ programming, hardware automation with LabVIEW or other programming languages, knowledge in GPU (CUDA) and HPC programming would be beneficial. Fluency in English is required, command of German is beneficial. You like to develop your scientific independence and initiate your own projects, while you are happy to collaborate in a team and contribute to projects in progress.
