Tenure-Track Assistant Professorship for Oncology

Job description:

The professorship is located at the University Hospital of Zurich in the department of Medical Oncology and Hematology (MOH). The department covers all medical-oncological areas (except primary tumors of the CNS, the skin, gynecological tumors and breast cancer, which are attributed to the respective specialized departments).

The successful candidate will participate in the departmental management and design and execute his or her own competitive research program on a translational level. Additional responsibilities are the promotion of clinical and translational research within the department, teaching on all levels of the curriculum as well as participation in postgraduate education. Participation in the clinical care of oncological patients and co-operation within the Comprehensive Cancer Center Zurich are also expected.


We expect applicants to have an outstanding, internationally recognized record of accomplishment as researchers in the field of medical oncology, focusing on a field of solid organ oncology. Clinical excellence, expertise in acquiring competitive grants and leadership qualities are also expected.

We seek applicants with a genuine interest to establish and maintain interdisciplinary research collaborations and we expect strong interest for modern teaching methods and for promotion of junior scientists in their academic career. Key personality traits are excellent social skills and an open, integrative personality.

Advanced spoken level of the German language is expected or should be acquired after starting in this position to grant optimal communication with patients.
