The Faculty of Medicine at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU) invites applications for a

Tenure Track Professorship for Cellular and Molecular Neurophysiology
(W2 / Associate Professor)

at the Institute of Physiology and Pathophysiology. The professorship is to be filled by the earliest possible starting date for an initial period of six years. FAU offers a long-term perspective of a permanent appointment to a W2 professorship if the requirements of the tenure evaluation are met.

We seek to appoint an expert who will develop an internationally visible research and teaching profile in physiology. The aim of the professorship is to specifically reinforce the expertise in neuroscience at the Faculty of Medicine in the area of `Neurodevelopment and Vulnerability of the CNS’ (DFG-RTG 2162). We are looking to appoint a professor with an outstanding international reputation whose work focuses on using high-resolution neurophysiological methods at the cellular and molecular level to analyse the functional consequences of disorders of the central nervous system.

The successful candidate will be expected to participate in subject-related Collaborative Research Centres, Graduate Schools, Research Units, and the Interdisciplinary Centre for Clinical Research in Erlangen as well as in Priority Programmes organised by Universitätsklinikum Erlangen. The Faculty of Medicine offers degree programmes in Medicine, Dentistry, Molecular Medicine, Medical Process Management and Logopaedics.
