Tenure Track Assistant Professor towards Associate Professor in Microbial Biotechnology at the Department of Fundamental Microbiology

Starting date: autumn 2020
Place: Lausanne, Switzerland
Contract length: 2 years, renewable twice
Rate: 100%

The Department of Fundamental Microbiology (DMF) is internationally renowned for its excellent research in various aspects of prokaryotic and eukaryotic microbiology. Within the frame of the newly launched National Centre of Competence Research (NCCR Microbiomes), the DMF is looking for an outstanding junior individual whose research excels in microbial biotechnology (prokaryotes, eukaryotes, phages), such as microbiome, metabolic, cell or genome engineering.

Main tasks:

  • develop an internationally recognized research programme funded by external sources,
  • develop a strong collaborative research within the NCCR Microbiomes,
  • supervise Master and PhD students,
  • participate in teaching activities by the Department.

Desired profile:

  • PhD in biological sciences or engineering,
  • a proven track-record of outstanding research achievements, original ideas and successful funding applications,
  • a good knowledge of French or aptitude to learn it.

The Department has excellent experimental facilities and access to the latest imaging, metabolomics, proteomics, and genomics platforms on campus. A start-up package as well as a yearly research allowance for positions and consumables will be available within a dynamic research environment.
