Tenure Track Assistant Professor in Cryo-EM
Young and research-intensive, Nanyang Technological University (NTU Singapore) is ranked 11th globally. It is also placed 1st amongst the world’s best young universities. A cosmopolitan hub of more than 100 nationalities, the NTU community comprises about 5,000 faculty and researchers. We invite you to be part of this world-class university.
The School of Biological Sciences (SBS) [http://www.sbs.ntu.edu.sg] at Nanyang Technological University was established in 2002 with the mission to make a strong contribution to biological and biomedical sciences. Since then, many talented individuals from around the world and Singapore have joined SBS as scientific leaders, and researchers. Research areas at SBS include infectious diseases, immunology, neurodegenerative diseases and telomere biology and genome function.
The NTU Institute of Structural Biology (NISB) [https://nisb.ntu.edu.sg/Pages/Home.aspx] is established in April 2014. The facility includes a 200kV Cryo-TEM (Tecnai Artica, F3EC and VPP), a T12 (iCorr, Eagle), a CorrSight (Spinning disk confocal, cryo-stage, mini-SOG stage), a 300 kV Titan Krios electron microscope (energy-filter. Falcon3EC pre-git, K2 post-gif, STEM detectors and VPP) and a cryo-FIB SEM for cellular tomography applications located in the NTU Facility for Analysis Characterisation Testing & Simulation (FACTS) (https://research.ntu.edu.sg/facts). NISB and SBS together with the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine and engineering departments, offers a vibrant and stimulating research environment with excellent in-house instrumentation for biomedical research including X-ray crystallography, HR solution and solid-state NMR, protein expression facilities and other biophysical methods.
We are looking for an outstanding candidate in the area of single-particle cryo-EM with a background in biochemistry and structural biology to support the operation of our state-of-the-art electron microscopy facility. The successful applicant will hold a faculty position with the NTU School of Biological Sciences and be housed in the vibrant NTU Institute of Structural Biology. Applicants who combine EM with biochemistry and/or cell biology methods to answer important fundamental questions in biology and medicine are particularly encouraged to apply. The faculty is expected to teach undergraduate and graduate students.
We are seeking a colleague who is passionate about interacting and collaborating with scientists at all levels to maintain and develop the state-of-the-art cryo-EM facility.
