The laboratory of Dr. Tachibana, Director of the Department of Totipotency at the Max Planck Institute of Biochemistry (MPIB) and group leader at the Institute of Molecular Biotechnology of the Austrian Academy of Sciences (IMBA) has two open positions for talented technical assistants (TA) to join the team. The focus of the Totipotency Department is to elucidate the molecular mechanisms underlying the start of life in single-cell embryos (see: https://www.imba.oeaw.ac.at/research/kikue-tachibana/). The laboratory is currently located at the IMBA, Vienna, Austria, and will relocate to the MPIB in Martinsried, Germany, in 2021.

Requirements

Successful applicants will work closely with researchers on projects using micromanipulation techniques and live-cell imaging of early mouse embryos. Requirements include:

  • Strong expertise in microinjection of oocytes or embryos is essential
  • Completion of a professional training as a Technical Assistant (BTA/MTA/CTA) or an equivalent qualification is advantageous
  • Experience in mouse colony management is advantageous
  • Ability to work as part of team
  • Good organizational skills
  • Fluency in English

The offered positions are fully funded by an ERC grant for two years with the possibility of extension. The salary will be based on previous experience and successful candidates will also benefit from opportunities for additional training.
