The Advanced Light Microscopy Facility (ALMF) offers a collection of state-of-the-art light microscopy equipment and image processing tools.The ALMF supports in-house scientists and visitors in using light microscopy methods for their research and regularly organises in-house and international courses to teach basic and advanced light microscopy methods.
We are looking for a scientist to join the Advanced Light Microscopy Core Facility at the EMBL as technical officer. The work will be centred on the implementation of imaging technologies, with a primary focus on sample preparation from tissue for highly multiplexed spatial readouts.
This position is funded by GSK as part of a collaboration between Cellzome, a GSK company, and EMBL. You will contribute to diverse projects and will work across interdisciplinary teams. You will perform hands on experiments, as well as designing and planning for new method development.
Applicants should have a Ph.D. in biological sciences, and extensive research experience. You should have a proven track record in the development, or extensive optimisation and application, of microscopy technologies. Prior experience with formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded (FFPE) and OCT-cryopreserved tissue, multiplex immunofluorescence imaging is preferred, as well as expertise with laser capture microdissection and computational data analysis.
