DESY is one of the world’s leading research centres for photon science, particle and astroparticle physics as well as accelerator physics. More than 2400 employees work at our two locations Hamburg and Zeuthen in science, technology and administration.
The DESY astroparticle physics groups focus on a broad range of topics in multi-messenger astronomy, with strong experimental and/or theoretical activities in neutrinos, optical, gamma-ray and gravitational waves. The neutrino astrophysics group is among the leading institutions involved in the lceCube observatory and has key responsibilities in the construction of the lceCube Upgrade, a low-energy extension that will provide unprecedented sensitivity for studying neutrino flavor mixing. Furthermore, the group is deeply involved in preparations for lceCube-Gen2 and the radio detection of neutrinos, including a Gen2-Radio pathfinder array in Greenland.
