Faculty in the new Centre for Cancer Immunology in Southampton are recruiting post-doctoral fellows, graduate students and technical staff. The Centre occupies a new building with over 4,000 square metres of research space on the University Hospital campus. Research in this Centre is highly translational and is directed towards using immunotherapy to treat cancer.
Faculty research interests range from developing antibody-based therapeutics to enhancing cellular immune responses against tumours, including vaccines. The research is complemented by clinical expertise in multiple areas, including haematologic and solid cancers. An in-house clinical trials unit also forms an integral part of the Centre. This Centre is the first of its kind in the UK, and offers an exciting, interdisciplinary environment for research involving the use of state-of-the-art approaches such as bioinformatics, peptidomics and microscopy to develop novel therapeutic approaches.
Faculty in the Centre are supported by grants from multiple sources, including Cancer Research UK, the Wellcome Trust, MRC, Bloodwise and biopharma. The Centre provides a rich environment for career development, with a four year PhD programme in cancer immunology, and with competitive salaries and benefits for staff.
