Job description:

The Jülich Supercomputing Centre (JSC) at Forschungszentrum Jülich operates one of the most powerful supercomputing infrastructures in Europe. JSC works together with world-leading technology providers to design hardware architectures for future high-performance computers. Via the recently established "Jülich User Infrastructure for Quantum Computing" (JUNIQ), researchers will be able to access novel computing systems based on different quantum technologies. The software tool JARDS (Joint Application, Review, and Dispatch Service) developed at JSC will be used to organize and implement the allocation of these resources.


Your Job:


Join our team in the improvement and new development of software solutions.Your tasks include:



  • Requirements analysis, design, implementation, automated testing, and operation of JARDS for JUNIQ

  • Support of other institutions in porting, integration, and adaptation of JARDS

  • Analysis of workflows and processes that occur during the operation of existing and supercomputing systems at JSC and software programming of these processes

  • Support of internal and external users as well as documentation and maintenance of Software

Your Profile:

  • Completed training as an IT specialist for application development, alternatively a degree in software development or an equivalent degree or proof of relevant work experience
  • Ability for teamwork and to take initiative
  • Knowledge and experience in developing web-based applications with PHP, Java-Script, CSS, and HTML as well as with software management tools such as Git and Jenkins
  • Experience in object-oriented software development and in using SQL databases
  • Very good English skills (written and spoken), German skills are advantageous
  • Knowledge and experience with Unix systems and Docker are advantageous
