Postdoc and PhD will perform laboratory work and data analysis and/or computational work. Postdocs will also co-supervise graduate students. Other duties will include writing and editing manuscripts and participation to outreach activities. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in one or more of the following areas: terahertz photonics, ultrafast optics, quantum optics, plasmonics, nanophotonics, molecular imaging, attosecond physics, high-harmonic generation, numerical simulations.

About us:
The Joint Centre for Extreme Photonics (JCEP), located in Ottawa, is a collaboration initiative between the National Research Council (NRC) and the University of Ottawa launched in 2019 to promote research excellence at the highest level in the field of photonics. The Centre brings together twelve researchers (six from each institutions) who work in collaboration to make impactful discoveries and leverage them to enable new photonics applications.

The National Research Council (NRC) is the Government of Canada’s largest research organization supporting scientific innovation, the advancement of knowledge and technology development. The institution collaborates with over 70 colleges, universities and hospitals annually, work with 800 companies on their projects, and provide advice or funding to over 8000 Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) each year. It brings together the brightest minds to deliver tangible impacts on the lives of Canadians and people around the world.
The University of Ottawa is located in the heart of the nation’s capital. It is the world’s largest bilingual (French-English) university with over 40,000 students and it is ranked the 141st top academic institution in the world according to the Times Higher Education (THE). It is committed to academic and research excellence and to the promotion of cultural diversity. With students and faculty from over 100 countries, the University of Ottawa has built research collaborations with the best institutions in the world, such as Germany’s Max Planck Institutes through the Centre for Extreme and Quantum Photonics.

Screening of applications will begin immediately and continue until the positions are filled. Candidates must provide a CV, including a list of publications, a short description of research experience and the names of at least three referees.
The postdoc appointment is for two years, renewable for one or more years.
