Shenzhen University International Cancer Center is jointly established in 2016 by Shenzhen University, University of California San Diego (UCSD), University of Southern California (USC), and other partners under the support of the Shenzhen Municipal Government. The Cancer Center will combine its expertise cancer clinical care, basic, and translational research to build a state-of-the-art comprehensive Cancer Center. Through international collaboration in clinical care, research, and education, the Cancer Center will raise the level of Shenzhen cancer research and clinical medicine.
The Cancer Center has basic research, translational research and clinical care. Cancer Center’s space is distributed in both Shenzhen University Health Science Center and General Hospital. The research space located in Health Science Center is about 3,200 square meters, including 8 public technical platform and dozens of Principle Investigator laboratories. The clinical service space located in General Hospital includes Hematology and Tumor outpatient service, expert outpatient service and MDT. Inpatient services include 80 Hematology and Tumor ordinary beds, and 800 square meters of radiotherapy space. Clinical service space includes 15 Hematopoietic stem cell transplantation bins, and 200 square meters tissue bank. Cancer Center possesses 100 million RMB research equipment and 120 million RMB clinical equipment. The first phase of clinical collaboration between the Cancer Center and USC has been carried out in Dec. 2018, and the Phase II clinical collaboration and scientific research collaboration agreement is underway.

Job Openings:
Positions A: PI for Basic Research/ Translational Medicine
Research directions: Engaged in the field of Cancer research, including metabolism, bioinformatics, stem cell, immunotherapy, and epigenetics.
(1) Basic Research
Requires:
a. Applier should match to Cancer Center’s basic research field.
b. As first author or corresponding author, applier had been (meeting one of them is applicable):
(1) Published at least 1 article on Science, Nature, Cell or any other periodicals that have over 20 IF. Meantime, in recent 5 years, published at least 1 article on JCR Q1 (division by Chinese Academy of Sciences) periodicals.
(2) In recent 5 years, published 3 or more articles on JCR Q1 (division by Chinese Academy of Sciences) periodicals.
c. In recent 5 years, applier had been successfully applied at least 1 national research program. (NSFC, National Key S&T Special Project, National Sci-tech Support Plan, National 973 Plan, National 863 Plan, other overseas national program).

Translational Medicine
Requires:
a. Applier should match to Cancer Center’s translation research field.
b. As first author or corresponding author, applier had been published at least published at least 2 articles on JCR Q1 (division by Chinese Academy of Sciences) periodicals.
c. In recent 5 years, applier had been successfully applied at least 1 national research program.
d. For those appliers who have good application prospect authorized patents, this qualification standard can be considerably reduced.

Positions B: Research Fellows / Associate Researchers
Research directions: Engaged in the field of Cancer research, including metabolism, bioinformatics, stem cell, immunotherapy, and epigenetic.
Requires:
a. A PhD degree from a higher level university or research institution;
b. Ability to develop scientific research independently. As first author or corresponding author, applier had been published at least published at least 1 article on JCR Q2 or Q1 (division by Chinese Academy of Sciences) periodicals;
c. Strong background of cell biology and molecular biology;
d. Proficient English skills in reading and writing, team management ability and communication and coordination ability.

Package
For PI
a. Research Team: Build academic team and recruit postdoctoral and researchers.
b. Annual Salary: RMB 300,000-1,200,000 (According to the salary treatment stipulated by the Shenzhen University or SZU General Hospital, the specific salary is determined according to educational background, research experience and so on).
c. Independent laboratory: 80-120 m2.
d. Other: those who selected a high level overseas talent in Shenzhen (“peacock plan”) may be awarded highest subsidy support up to 3 million yuan. A talents: 3 million; B talents: 2 million; C talents: 1.6 million.
e. Those who selected “peacock plan” could apply a start-up research funding to Shenzhen University. A and B talents: 5 million; C talents: 3 million.
f. Cancer Center will support the start-up funding for 3 years.

For Research Fellows / Associate researchers
a. Annual Salary: RMB 240,000-400,000 (According to the salary treatment stipulated by the Shenzhen University or SZU General Hospital, the specific salary is determined according to educational background, research experience and so on);
b. Other: those who selected a high level overseas talent in Shenzhen (“peacock plan”) may be awarded highest subsidy support up to 5 million yuan.

Shenzhen University (SZU) General Hospital is fully supported by the Shenzhen Municipal People’s Government. It is positioned as research hospital integrating medical, teaching, scientific research and health management. General Hospital covers an area of nearly 90,000 square meters, with a total planned 2,000 beds, which will be constructed in two phases. The first phase of the project was completed in Sep. 2017, with a construction area of about 140,000 square meters and 800 beds. It is equipped with high-precision medical equipment such as 3.0T magnetic resonance, 256-row CT and automatic biochemical analyzer. The second phase of the project has begun planning, and plans to add an additional 1200-bed inpatient building and teaching and research building. After the completion of the second phase of construction, the total construction area will reach 600,000 square meters.
