The Department of Inflammation and Oncology Research is seeking highly motivated Senior Scientist to investigate mechanisms of immune mediated pathogenesis in autoimmune and inflammatory diseases, and to discover and develop innovative therapies to treat these diseases. We encourage those with experience in various autoimmune diseases, such as psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, and rheumatoid diseases to apply.
The successful candidate will independently lead a laboratory group, as well as project teams, and will collaborate with other research scientists at multiple Amgen sites, including teams in other functional areas such as Therapeutic Discovery, Medical Sciences, and Computational Biology.
The Senior Scientist will perform cutting-edge research that integrates human genetics, immunology and autoimmune diseases, and will develop novel therapies including cell mediated therapies by using various innovative technologies and approaches. The candidate will be expected to publish and to present at national/international conferences.
Doctorate degree and 2 years of scientific experience
Master’s degree and 5 years of scientific experience
Bachelor’s degree and 7 years of scientific experience
Ph.D or MD, with postdoctoral training and research experience in the field of immunology, autoimmune diseases, molecular biology or biochemistry
Demonstrated track record of independent critical thinking and scientific achievements in the areas of Immunology or Oncology as demonstrated by high impact publications
5+ years demonstrated experience in leading independent research and/or drug development
Ability to identify therapeutically meaningful targets and ability to lead a team to generate a drug against that target
Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills and can thrive in a highly collaborative research environment
