Reporting to the Director of the Hong Kong Branch (“Hong Kong Branch”) of the Southern Marine Science and Engineering Guangdong Laboratory (Guangzhou), the appointee will take a leading role in overseeing the operations of the Hong Kong Branch.
The major duties of the appointee are to 1) drive and monitor the overall research development of the Hong Kong Branch; 2) provide support in the review and development of the management committee; 3) coordinate and build collaborations with various internal and external talents on collaborative research projects and initiatives; and 4) assist in overall project managements including budget planning and monitoring, resource management and staff management.
Applicants should have a PhD degree in the field of marine science. The suitable candidate is expected to have an excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese (fluent Putonghua is a must). He/She should be independent, and able to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines. The appointee will be required to work irregular hours and travel to Mainland China when needed. Applicants with demonstrated potential to make changes and lead a team are preferred. (Duration: 2 years, renewable)
Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits including annual leave, medical and dental benefits will be provided where applicable. A gratuity will be payable upon successful completion of contract.
