Zhejiang University-University of Edinburgh (ZJE) Institute seeks to recruit outstanding senior lecturer to join a dynamic team developing innovative teaching in Biomedical Sciences/Bioinformatics.

ZJE Institute, established by two world-leading universities at the new International Campus in Haining, provides state of the art teaching facilities, as well as extremely competitive salaries. Post-holders must have a passion for teaching and the abilities to be influential and innovative educators developing and delivering teaching at undergraduate level for the next generation of biomedical scientists.

We particularly welcome applications from individuals with expertise in bioinformatics and neuroscience.

The posts require a doctoral degree in a relevant Biomedical Sciences/Bioinformatics subject with a high command of both spoken and written English. Post-holders are expected to have 5 years or above teaching experience in higher education.

The posts will be located at ZJE Institute in Haining and the contract of employment will be held with Zhejiang University International Campus. The appointment will be effective from the date of the actual commencement of duty and will be tenable for a period of 2 years in the first instance. Subject to a satisfactory formal review at the end of year five working at Zhejiang University, it is intended that the post-holder will then move to an academic open-ended contract at the end of year six.

About ZJE and the Post
The post is associated with the establishment of Zhejiang University – University of Edinburgh (ZJE) Institute at Haining in China. It is aimed at individuals of the highest potential who have either begun to establish a reputation for quality teaching in their discipline and who have a proven commitment to university level learning and teaching.

The appointees will be involved in the development and delivery of innovative undergraduate programmes in Integrative Biomedical Sciences and Biomedical Informatics that are delivered in English at International Campus of Zhejiang University at Haining. The programmes are delivered jointly by staff from ZJE Institute, Zhejiang University and the University of Edinburgh. Post holders will develop a teaching portfolio depending on their expertise and experience.

The appointment will be effective from the date of the actual commencement of duty and will be tenable for a period of 2 years in the first instance. Subject to a satisfactory formal review at the end of year five working at Zhejiang University, it is intended that the post-holder will then move to an open-ended contract at the end of year six.

The post is available with immediate effect and it is expected that successful applicants will be in post by no later than September 2020.

Responsibilities
1) Work objectives:Individuals are expected to organize and perform high-quality undergraduate teaching and talents cultivation.
2) Specific tasks:
a) Individuals are expected to work 40 hours per week, including 15-16 hours of classroom teaching, and holding or participating in academic activities (e.g. seminars).
b) Individuals are expected to participate in the development of the undergraduate courses, and to establish and coordinate at least 1 biomedical course for undergraduate students and achieve positive student feedback each year.
c) Individuals are expected to work for the internationalization strategy of the ZJE Institute.
d) Individuals are expected to participate in undergraduate and postgraduate recruitment (e.g. high school talk, summer camp and interview etc.).
e) Individuals are encouraged to join in research groups in the institute to carry out relevant research projects and support undergraduate research training.
f) Individuals are expected to carry out research in education and other relevant work related to this post.

Remuneration and Benefit Package
The contract of employment will be held with Zhejiang University International Campus. Salary and allowances will start from $40,000 for junior position and be based on their experience. Annual leave is available, and medical insurance will be covered.
