starting as soon as possible.


Job Description
We are looking for a research scientist or scientific programmer with strong expertise in numerical modelling of the ocean and/or climate system. The position is part of the Helmholtz Earth System Modelling initiative www.esm-project.net and will involve coupled biogeochemical-physical model development, with special focus on testing a high-resolution nesting approach, and simulations with the FOCI Earth system model in order to address climate mitigation and carbon-dioxide removal scenarios.


Qualification
We are looking for a creative and ambitious modeller with a university degree at the M.Sc., Diploma or PhD level in a natural sciences or computer science subject and extensive knowledge of physical and/or biogeochemical ocean modelling or Earth system modelling and of the global carbon cycle.


The position is to be filled for a limited period as maternity protection, starting as soon as possible until 31st August 2019, but with a strong perspective for an extension as a substitution during parental leave. The salary depends on qualification and could be up to the class E13 TVöD-Bund of the German tariff for public employees. This is a fulltime position.
