Infectious Disease Research Institute (IDRI)

Scientist I

Seattle, WA, United States

The TB Discovery Group is looking for a Scientist I to work in the drug discovery group. The successful candidate will work in a multi-disciplinary research environment, interacting with chemists, biochemists and microbiologists on multiple projects. The project will utilize sophisticated high throughput microscopy to identify compounds that potentiate intracellular bacterial killing, as well as determine mode of action of novel agents. The candidate will be part of a team covering all stages of drug discovery from evaluating and translating screening “hits” into lead compounds for development into pre-clinical TB drug candidates.

·        Work under Biosafety Level 3 conditions with Mycobacterium tuberculosis

·        Conduct a research and development project using high content screens

·        Conduct research to evaluate and develop novel small molecule inhibitors of Mycobacterium tuberculosis

·        Conduct research to understand mode of action of novel anti-mycobacterial compounds

·        Run a wide range of microbiological and cellular assays
