The University Hospital Heidelberg is one of the major healthcare centers in Germany. Our objective is the development of innovative diagnostics and therapies as well as their quick implementation for the patient. With about 10,700 employees in more than 50 specialized clinical departments with almost 2,000 beds, about 80,000 patients in part-time and full-time inpatient treatment as well as 1,000,000 patients in ambulant treatment are medicated each year.

Cardiovascular diseases are the leading cause of death in western countries and represent one of the major medical challenges of our time. The prevalence of acute and chronic heart failure with reduced as well as preserved ejection fraction (HFrEF and HFpEF) is currently increasing dramatically worldwide. The Institute for Experimental Cardiology is dedicated to investigate the molecular basis of various forms of cardiac diseases and is a central institute in the German Center for Cardiovascular Research (DZHK). Further research projects such as a Collaborative Research Center (CRC) and other structural measures are in the planning stage. Therefore we are looking for a scientific project coordinator. The position is initially limited to two years with option of further extension.

Your tasks

  • Operational planning, coordination and conceptual development of large-scale and high volume scientific projects and networks with national and international partners
  • Communication with national and international cooperation partners as well as local steering committees
  • Planning and coordination of a Collaborative Research Center (CRC)
  • Monitoring of timelines and reporting within existing projects
  • Contact person for persons and institutes involved in the respective projects
  • Scouting and writing of research proposals for the acquisition of significant third-party funding
  • Support with legal issues and the drafting of contracts (cooperation agreements and patents)
  • Planning and organization of scientific events and meetings
  • Public relations and presentation as well as representation of the institute

You will enter an internationally leading working group in cardiac research, pursuing the ambitious goal of developing novel effective cardiac treatment options and reaching out for cross-disciplinary collaborations. Your profile

  • You have a university degree, preferably in the field of life sciences, you hold a doctorate
  • Ideally, you have experience in the field of cardioscience or related areas
  • You have experience in scientific management
  • You are familiar with university operations and have experience in the procurement of third-party funds
  • You are an organizational talent and enjoy working independently
  • You have experience with contract and patent law
  • You have strong communication skills and enjoy interacting with international collaboration partners
  • You have a high level of commitment, creative drive, flexibility and a sense of responsibility, and you are assertive and able to work under pressure
  • You have good computational skills and have experience with common Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe (Illustrator, Photoshop) applications
  • You are fluent in written and spoken English and ideally have experience abroad
