As German Research Center for Environmental Health, Helmholtz Zentrum München pursues the goal of developing personalized medical approaches for the prevention and therapy of major common diseases such as diabetes mellitus, allergies and lung diseases. To achieve this, it investigates the interaction of genetics, environmental factors and lifestyle.
The ‘Helmholtz Artificial Intelligence Cooperation Unit’ (HAICU) will be the unique chance to reach an international leadership position in applied AI by combining AI-based analytics with Helmholtz’ unique research questions and data sets.HAICU will significantly enrich the Helmholtz Association in terms of applied AI. It will bring together scientists from all centers, provide support in their needs and thereby will foster transdisciplinary and ground-breaking research.
HAICU will be structured in a wheel-and-spoke model, with an interdisciplinary international visible central unit located at Helmholtz Zentrum München and strong local units at five other Helmholtz centers. For the establishment, coordination and implementation of HAICU Central at our center we are searching for Scientific Manager.
Scientific Manager for the Central unit of the Helmholtz Artificial Intelligence Cooperation Unit (f/m/d)
coordinate all HAICU Central and Local activities (e.g., coordination of HAICU Central and local research groups and AI Consultant Teams through regular meetings; set up of regular meetings of all boards; coordination of all processes in the sense of the governance; schedules and all administrative issues regarding the implementation of HAICU Central)manage a broad range of projects (these include publishing of HAICU project calls, coordination of review processes of proposals, assignment of requests from other Helmholtz Centers to the most suited AI Consultants and monitoring the progress of each project in accordance with the rules and procedures of the Initiative and Networking Fund)be responsible for relevant reporting within HAICU to the Helmholtz Incubator Information & Data Science and to the Helmholtz Associationgive support in the organization, execution and evaluation of various scientific events for HAICU (e.g. hackathons, collaborative network meetings to workshops as well as international conferences)give support in accelerating public outreach and international visibility of HAICU and do scouting on conferences and other eventsmaintain a network with strategic partners from universities, research institutes or industry
a PhD degree in life- or natural sciences; solid data science background would be an advantagea proven experience in scientific project managementan outstanding attention to detail and the ability to manage a broad range of different responsibilitiesexcellent English writing-, editing and – communication skillsthe ability to interact with the scientific community at different levelsan intrinsically motivation, team spirit, network thinking and an independent, self-reliant and systematic way of workingstrong communication and inter-personal skills
