Scientific support staff
DESY is one of the world’s leading research centres for photon science, particle and astroparticle physics as well as accelerator physics. More than 2400 employees work at our two locations Hamburg and Zeuthen in science, technology and administration.
The Accelerator Division (M-Division) is responsible for the operation of all accelerators at DESY and for their design and construction as well as R&D on novel accelerator concepts and technology. To support the Director of the Accelerator Division in strategic and organisational planning such as the preparation of internal and external appointments and workshops, and strategic roadmaps, a scientitic secretary is needed. The secretary will also take on communication and coordination tasks with external partners and organisations and contribute to scientific reporting.

University degree in natural sciences (MS or PhD) or equivalent skills and experienceKnowledge of the national and international research and innovation landscapeKnowledge of particle accelerators, lasers and/or large-scale infrastructure is desirableExperience in political processes desirableGoal-oriented and structured work as well as a high degree of self-organisationVery good communication and verbal skills as well as a confident appearanceVery good knowledge of English
Salary and benefits are commensurate with those of public service organisations in Germany. Classification is based upon qualifications and assigned duties.
