Network Administrative Officer
for the Leducq ATTRACT Transatlantic Network of Excellence (parental leave replacement, 1 year; 50% position)
“ATTRACT: Arterial flow as attractor for endothelial cell migration” is a Transatlantic Network of Excellence funded by the Leducq foundation for a period of five years. The Network unites seven partner laboratories around a common research project and is co-led by the Network coordinators Prof. Holger Gerhardt (MDC Berlin) and Prof. Douglas Marchuk (Duke university, USA).
As a Network Administrative Officer (NAO) of ATTRACT you will be a member of the Integrative Vascular Biology Laboratory headed by Professor Holger Gerhardt at the MDC. You will be overseeing and coordinating the scientific projects in the network, as well as managing all network activities. In addition, you will be responsible for:
- organizing the bi-annual network meetings in Europe and/or the US
- organizing and managing the monthly video conference meetings
- coordinating, writing and submitting the Network evaluation reports
- maintaining and regularly updating the Network website
- supervising the budget of all member labs and the general Network budget
- coordinating, approving and submitting the quarterly financial reports to the funding body
- managing all internal and external communication of the Network
We are looking for a highly motivated person with a degree (ideally a Master or PhD) in Life Sciences or related disciplines.
Excellent organization and communication skills, a high degree of independency and fluency in English are required. A good command of German is preferable, but not absolutely necessary. An interest or previous research experience in vascular biology or a related field is a plus. You should enjoy working with people but also be able to work mainly on your own. Previous experience in science management is beneficial. We will give preference to candidates with international working experience.
This position is an excellent opportunity to gain more experience in vascular biology research and further develop your science management skills in an international setting. The Network comprises of highly-motivated and dedicated scientists, which over the first two years of the funding period have grown together to a well-connected community, performing excellent research. The NAO position offers a high degree of flexibility and can be partly conducted remotely.
For the duration of maternity leave and, if applicable, subsequent parental leave (anticipated for at least one year).
Salary is according to the German TVöD E 13 (Bund).
