Our group at DESY is in charge of developing, constructing and operating novel experiments addressing fundamental questions of elementary particle physics in national and international cooperation. To strengthen our team we look for an expert in cryogenics. The successful applicant for this position is expected to closely collaborate with Hamburg University in context of the exellence cluster "Quantum Universe".
Development of cooling concepts for the mirrors of future gravitational wave interferometers and realization of corresponding test experimentsConceptual design, construction and operation of a cryoplatform to host the mirror tests and other experimentsParticipation in the development, construction and operation of future experiments at the cryoplatform
PhD in physics or comparable qualificationWell-founded knowledge in cryogenic experiments at liquid He temperaturesExpertise in process measurements and controls of cryostatsExperience in fundamental science experimentsFluent German and English in spoken and written
Salary and benefits are commensurate with those of public service organisations in Germany. Classification is based upon qualifications and assigned duties.
