Job Summary/Basic Function:
Dr. Alberola-Ila is looking to hire a Research Technician for his lab. Immunology Research: To assist in multidisciplinary research on development and function of immune cells. Duties include implementation and management of animal and tissue specimen analysis using tissue culture, flow cytometry, PCR. Additional duties include data entry and analysis, assisting with lab maintenance, and participating in weekly lab meetings. Training will be provided. BA/BS degree typically in one of the biological sciences, physics, or chemistry, biomedical engineering or equivalent years of professional, paid, relevant laboratory experience. Should be familiar with lab techniques. Must be willing to work with laboratory animals. Must have excellent organizational skills and the ability to follow detailed experimental protocols. Also be able to work well independently and as part of a team.
Minimum Degree Required:
Work Hours: Typically Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 5pm. Full-time position up to a year, with the possibility of continued employment pending funding and performance.
Responsible, detail oriented, and highly motivated individual with BA/BS degree in the biological sciences and a GPA 3.2 or higher. Preferred candidate will have laboratory experience and a track record of working with cells, tissues, or animals in a laboratory setting. Evidence of strong analytical skills and data analysis experience is also preferred.
Regularly required to stand, use manual dexterity, talk or hear; Frequently required to walk and reach with hands and arms; occasionally sit; frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; vision abilities include close vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Potential exposure to fumes, airborne particles, or rodent dander. May work with toxic, caustic chemicals, radioactive materials, liquid nitrogen, human tissue or blood. Potential risk of electrical shock. Occasional exposure to cold 4C, and/or extreme cold -80C from freezers. Noise level is usually moderate.
