The Hill Lab within the Transplantation Program of the Clinical Research Division is looking for a highly motivated individual to support preclinical and translational research on the use of stem cell transplantation for the treatment of serious blood diseases. The successful candidate will be involved in a variety of cutting edge cellular and molecular techniques to study murine and human immune responses.

Responsibilities

This is expected to be a long-term position and the successful applicant will help oversee the day to day running of the laboratory in liaison with senior graduate laboratory members. The candidate will also contribute to multiple projects studying stem cell transplantation, with the ultimate aim to generate testable therapeutic interventions that attenuate graft-versus-host disease and improve leukemia and pathogen-specific effects after transplantation. The technician will be closely involved in research projects using both in vivo murine models of transplantation and handling/preparation of clinical samples for analysis.

The successful applicant will ideally have an excellent knowledge of immunology, relevant regulatory activities, laboratory management with previous experience in laboratory murine handling, genotyping, cell culture, basic flow cytometry and be capable of maintaining detailed laboratory records. Ability to analyze and report primary data would be advantageous.

In conjunction with other senior Research Techs, key duties will include:

  1. Preparation and maintenance of regulatory documents
  2. Oversight of flow cytometry equipment within the laboratory staff
  3. Helping in the maintenance of a large murine colony; help to schedule and coordinate experiments with other lab members and with collaborators
  4. Oversight of laboratory reagents, stocks, media and maintenance of appropriate levels of laboratory supplies
  5. Oversight of stem cell transplants and therapeutics in murine, monitoring of animal well-being
  6. Oversight of clinical sample repository

Qualifications

Research Technician II – A Bachelor’s degree with at least two years of professional lab experience in a related field with relevant techniques is required. A Master’s degree in a related field can substitute for two years of professional lab experience.

Research Technician III – A Bachelor’s degree with at least five years of professional lab experience in a related field with relevant techniques is required. A Master’s degree in a related field can substitute for two years of professional lab experience.

Research Technician IV – A Bachelor’s degree with at least eight years of professional lab experience in a related field with relevant techniques is required. A Master’s degree in a related field can substitute for two years of professional lab experience.

Required

  • Experience with murine models and murine colony maintenance

Preferred

  • Experience with regulatory oversight and documentation (IACUC, IRB, etc.)
  • Experience with flow cytometry
  • Demonstrated ability to independently provide laboratory management with minimal supervision
