Salary: Grade 6: £28,660 - £34,189 p.a.
We are seeking a Research Technician to provide specialist technical support and conduct original collaborative research as part of a multidisciplinary scientific programme designed to elucidate how coordination of neural activity in the hippocampus circuit supports memory-guided behaviour in the rodent brain.
In addition to having a BSc, HNC or equivalent qualification/training in a relevant scientific discipline, candidates should have a track record in laboratory technician work and/or research experience in the field of neuroscience. The postholder will be required to contribute to research by assisting with experiments in rodents, as well as by assisting in the daily organisation and running of the host laboratories. Candidates are expected to be team players, able to work as part of a group and independently, and to have excellent communication skills. A well-developed ability to manage time and multitask is also essential.
The postholder will work in the Group led by Dr David Dupret and will be based at the Medical Research Council Brain Network Dynamics Unit (www.mrcbndu.ox.ac.uk), Department of Pharmacology, University of Oxford.
This is a full-time, fixed-term post with an end date of 31 March 2020 in the first instance, to start as soon as possible from 1 August 2019. The postholder will be contractually required to undertake business critical work outside of core working days for the equivalent of 2 days per month. Owing to the nature of this position, any offer of employment with the University will be subject to a satisfactory security screening.
