Research Support Officer
£29,181 to £39,381 per annum
MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology, Cambridge, UK
The group of Dr Benjamin Falcon at the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology has a position for a highly motivated and independent Research Support Scientist.
We work to understand the molecular basis of protein assembly into amyloid in neurodegenerative disease, including frontotemporal dementia, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and Alzheimer’s disease. We combine structural and cell biology, using high-resolution electron microscopy with patient samples and advanced models of protein assembly both in vitro and in vivo. For more information, please see our webpage at https://www2.mrc-lmb.cam.ac.uk/group-leaders/a-to-g/benjamin-falcon/.
You will be responsible for developing innovative cell and tissue culture models of protein assembly from primary and iPSC sources. In addition, you will provide research support, including lab and tissue culture facility management; assistance with routine molecular cloning, histology and biochemical analysis of tissue samples; and training and assisting other group members.
We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who will thrive in a friendly and supportive group. You should have a minimum of a Master’s Degree in neurobiology or cell biology (or an equivalent level of research experience). A PhD would be desirable. You should have experience with primary and/or iPSC-derived cell and/or tissue culture, molecular biology techniques and histology.
Informal enquiries can be made to Dr Benjamin Falcon at email@example.com. Additional information about the Neurobiology Division and the Laboratory as a whole can be found at http://www.mrc-lmb.cam.ac.uk.
The successful candidate will be awarded an Open-ended Research Support Officer position.
