Modelling and simulation techniques can be used to address unmet drug development needs in special populations such as paediatric subjects and in pregnant / lactating women. To further develop our advanced Physiologically Based Pharmacokinetics (PBPK) models in these populations we have an immediate opening in our paediatric team for a scientist with a background in the areas of pharmaceutical sciences or clinical pharmacology. Experience in vitro-in vivo extrapolation techniques and a good understanding of drug pharmacokinetics would also be advantageous.
The candidate should have in-depth experience of conducting literature searches and have the ability to critically review literature and conduct meta-analysis of collected physiological, biological and clinical data. Evidence to show critical assessment of clinical trial protocols and carrying out research independently will be considered a plus. The post holder will be expected to assist with on-going customer support, education, and training related to the use of the Simcyp Simulator and to act as tutor on the workshop programmes.
The successful candidate will join an internationally recognised, multidisciplinary research team, providing opportunities for further development of knowledge and skills. The post does not include routine laboratory or clinical work. We offer a unique and exciting mix of academic and commercial environments which encourage regular attendance at scientific meetings as part of our continuous education programs.
PhD or equivalent experience in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Pharmacology or related discipline.
Interest in and knowledge of pharmacokinetics in relation to pregnancy/lactation populations.
Some understanding of modelling and simulation principles of physiological and biological systems
Demonstrable skills in literature searching and data compilation and analysis.
Demonstrable communication skills, as evident by presentation at scientific meetings, and good interpersonal and organizational skills.
Experience in Physiologically Based Pharmacokinetics modelling and simulation
Some knowledge of in vitro in vivo extrapolation approaches
Scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals.
Simcyp is part of Certara, a company which combines sophisticated research and development informatics with the power of predictive science methodologies to span the drug development spectrum and offer pharma a previously unavailable ‘end-to-end’ solution in the quest for improving human health. The Simcyp team conducts cutting-edge research and provides consultancy, knowledge integration tools, algorithms, modelling solutions and databases (implemented in its globally-recognised Simcyp Population-based Simulator) for a client base of major blue-chip pharmaceutical and biotechnology organisations. Simcyp focuses, in particular, on gathering information required for the modelling and simulation (M&S) of the individual time-course and fate of drugs. We are on course to become the global industry standard, consequently, there is a continuous requirement for high quality people to join us, help in our expansion and share in our success.
