The Max Planck Florida Institute for Neuroscience in Jupiter Florida ( is in the process of identifying a new Max Planck Research Group Leader with expertise in neural circuit research. 


The Max Planck Florida Institute is focused on novel approaches to understanding the structure, function, and development of neural circuits in the vertebrate brain. We invite applications from highly creative investigators with an outstanding record of scientific accomplishment in a broad range of disciplines, from molecular to systems and computational neuroscience, that are relevant to the analysis of circuits that mediate sensory, motor, cognitive, or affective processes. We are especially interested in investigators whose research program includes development of technologies that break new ground in the interrogation of neural circuits.


The selected candidate must have a Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent degree, as well as postdoctoral experience demonstrating the potential for outstanding future achievement. The position provides startup resources, a guaranteed annual operating budget, and access to state of the art core facilities for light microscopy, electron microscopy, molecular biology, information technology, mechanical design, and animal care. The Max Planck Research Group Leader position is a term-limited appointment, with external review at 5 years and contract extension up to a maximum of 9 years.  


The Max Planck Florida Institute for Neuroscience is part of the prestigious Max Planck Society, Germany’s most successful research organization. The Max Planck Florida Institute for Neuroscience is located next to the MacArthur Campus of the Florida Atlantic University and the Florida campus of the Scripps Research Institute in Jupiter Florida.
