Dr. Anand Padmanabhan’s Laboratory in the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology (DLMP) in Rochester, Minnesota is seeking a postdoctoral research fellow in the area of platelet biology. Dr. Padmanabhan’s research in the area of platelet immunology, with a focus on heparin-induced thrombocytopenia, utilizes various biochemical tools and techniques to enhance the understanding of immune thrombocytopenia. Dr. Padmanabhan’s lab has a focus on translating research findings into better diagnostics and treatments. Recent research from this group has led to findings of new methods used to diagnose and treat HIT.

This position is currently available and requires a PhD in a relevant area, preferably chemistry/biochemistry. Critical thinking, curiosity, strong work ethic, communication skills and the ability to work well with others both within and outside the group is required. Previous experience in chemistry/ biochemistry and a strong publication record is highly desirable.

 Must have a Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent doctoral degree in a field deemed relevant by the program. Research Fellow is appropriate for individuals who have completed no more than one prior postdoctoral fellowship, at Mayo Clinic or elsewhere.

 The research fellow will work in translational research areas of platelet immunology and interact closely with the principal investigator whose group has already had a key impact on advancing both diagnosis and treatment of Heparin-induced thrombocytopenia. Candidates with a track record of publications and with expertise and interest in biochemistry are particularly encouraged to apply.
