Research Fellow – Berbeco Lab
Dana-Farber Cancer Institute
A Postdoctoral Research Fellow position is available at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and Harvard Medical School in the Department of Radiation Oncology, Division of Medical Physics and Biophysics. The successful applicant will participate in an NIH-funded project to develop and translate novel nanoparticles for MRI-guided radiation oncology.
The qualified candidate will work with in vitro and in vivo systems to design, develop and test nanoparticles in commercial imaging and therapy systems. This will require independent wet lab work as well as MRI image acquisition and analysis responsibilities. Frequent communication with internal and external collaborators is expected as well as preparation of scientific manuscripts and presentations.
• Preparation of in vitro and in vivo models of cancer
• MRI acquisition and analysis using commercial or developed tools
• Evaluation of therapeutic interventions (g. radiation)
• Designing experiments and executing protocols.
• Effective communication of results
This project is a collaboration with a French start-up company, NH Theraguix, which is developing nanoparticles for clinical imaging and radiotherapy. The goal of this project is to optimize a novel formulation for translation to clinical studies. The data acquired in the project is expected to support future clinical trials in MRI-guided radiation oncology.
The person hired for this position will join the team in this effort and will participate in the design and development of novel nanoparticles for future clinical translation. This person will also help with the generation of tools needed for analysis and evaluation of the nanoparticles and help maintain, support, and document shared tools, code base, and data sets.
Requirements: A Ph.D. or equivalent, in biophysics, biomedical engineering, imaging, chemistry, tumor biology or related subject are invited to apply. We are seeking a motivated individual with well-developed scientific skills and a desire to tackle technical and scientific problems. Previous experience with in vivo models, nano-formulations, tumor biology, histology and biological imaging would be valued.
