The University of Luxembourg is seeking to hire a highly motivated and an outstanding engineer in the area of Embedded Systems, Real-Time Signal
Processing and Space & Satellite Communications for its Interdisciplinary Centre of Security and Trust (SnT), within the Signal Processing and
Communications (SigCom) research group, led by Prof. Björn Ottersten and Prof. Symeon Chatzinotas.

The SigCom research group carries out research activities in the areas of signal processing for wireless communication systems including satellite
communications and radar systems and is currently expanding its research activities in exploring several emerging use cases of next generation wireless

Your Role…
The successful candidates are expected to perform the following tasks:

o Contributing to research and development projects in the fields of:
o AI/ML-accelerated Satellite Communications
o Space-based Edge Computing and Internetworking
o 5G/6G Non-Terrestrial Networks and Satellite-Terrestrial Integration
o Quantum communications
o Implementing control, networking and signal processing algorithms for the 5G-SpaceLab and the Commlab
o Contributing to the dissemination of the research results
o Preparing new research proposals to attract industrial, national and European projects
o Collaborate in ongoing ESA, European, and national projects
o Assisting in the organization of relevant workshops and demos

Your Profile…
Qualification: The candidate should possess a MSc degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics or affine, with a proven record of
accomplishment in the area of Embedded Systems for Signal Processing or Wireless Communications.

Experience: The ideal candidate should have knowledge and experience in several the following topics:

o International experience is desirable
o Hands-on implementation and testing of embedded processing systems and tools such as Xilinx Zynq / Versal, Pynq / Petalinux, embedded ARM, LibIIO
o Knowledge of hardware-software co-design and verification techniques using FPGA. Experience using Vivado SDK / Vitis is a plus
o AI-accelerated signal processing with dedicated hardware (GPU, FPGA, AI chipsets: Versal AI, Jetson TX2, Movidius Myriad, etc.)
o Strong programming skills in MATLAB, Python, C/C++ and/or HDL (VHDL, Verilog, HLS, etc.). Other languages such as Python or JULIA are a plus
o Knowledge of Communications and Networking standards (3GPP, DVB) would be a benefit
o Experience of working with industrial projects or public funded research projects is highly desirable
o Highly committed, excellent team-worker, and strong critical thinking skills
o Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
