£41,526 – £52,560 pa

A Research Coordinator position in organic synthesis and catalysis is available in the group of Professor John Bower. The role is associated with the group’s imminent move to the University of Liverpool, where John will take up the Regius Chair of Chemistry. The group will be based in a fully refurbished and state of the art laboratory, which will be exceptionally well equipped for research.

You should have a PhD in organic chemistry, or a closely related area, and also have postdoctoral experience. You should have high level skills in synthetic organic chemistry as evidenced by a strong publication record in one or more of the following areas: synthetic methodology development, total synthesis, physical organic chemistry, catalysis. You will take a leading role in the development of new project avenues from both an experimental and intellectual standpoint. In addition to laboratory work, you will be expected to contribute to the supervision of research students, the preparation of funding applications and the drafting of publications. The position is ideal for someone who might subsequently seek to pursue an independent academic career.

The start date is 15 April 2020, or as soon as possible thereafter, and the position is available for three years in the first instance. There is a possibility of renewal subject to mutual agreement.
