Salary:

Research Career Establishment Fellowship*: Grade 6, £41,517-£45,026, or Grade 7, £46,292- £54,534 per annum, depending on experience, inclusive of £3,500 London Weighting Allowance per annum.

*Appointees made at Grade 6 will hold the title of ‘Research Associate holding a Career Establishment Fellowship in Data Science’

Appointees made at Grade 7 will hold the title of ‘Research Fellow holding a Career Establishment Fellowship in Data Science’

Information about the role:

The King’s College London British Heart Foundation Centre of Research Excellence hosted by the School of Cardiovascular Medicine & Sciences provides an outstanding multi-disciplinary environment for the pursuit of cutting-edge cardiovascular research (https://www.kcl.ac.uk/scms/bhf-centre; https://www.kcl.ac.uk/scms). The BHF Centre has an excellent range of core facilities and expertise, including invasive human physiology, multimodality in vivo imaging, proteomics, state-of-the-art high-throughput screening and clinical research facilities. The overall focus of the Centre is the area of heart failure.

Applications are invited for a Research Career Establishment Fellowship in Data Science to work on a research programme with direct clinical relevance to heart failure.

The Career Establishment Fellowship is a tenure-track scheme in which up to 2 years’ initial funding is provided to cover salary and research support costs. During this time, the Fellow is expected to develop and submit a competitive application for an externally-funded Personal Fellowship (e.g. BHF or MRC Intermediate Fellowship). Success and high performance in such a Fellowship is a robust route to a tenured university position. The ideal candidate for the Career Establishment Fellowship will be a highly talented early-career scientist seeking to develop an independent research career within a stimulating and supportive environment. You should have expertise and qualifications in data science, as evidenced by high quality first or senior author publications. An outline of a potential external Fellowship application will be required as part of the selection process (2 A4pages).

Further Particulars

Contract Type: The Research Career Establishment Fellowship will be offered on a fixed-term contract for 2 years or until 31 May 2022.

Contract Term: This is a full-time post – 100% full time equivalent

Selection process: The selection process will include a panel interview, a presentation and a 2 A4 pages outline proposal.
