RESEARCH ASSOCIATE / JUNIOR RESEARCHER
INSTITUTE FOR TRANSFORMATIVE MOLECULAR MEDICINE, CASE WESTERN RESERVE UNIVERSITY
HARRINGTON DISCOVERY INSTITUTE, UNIVERSITY HOSPITALS CLEVELAND MEDICAL CENTER
The laboratory of Jonathan Stamler at the Institute for Transformative Molecular Medicine at Case Western Reserve University and the Harrington Discovery Institute, University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio is seeking ambitious and energetic post-doctoral fellows. The Stamler lab is a dynamic environment engaged in a wide array of basic and translational studies (see Cell 2019 176:1014-1025; Nature 2019 565:96-100; Mol Cell 2018 70:473-487; Mol Cell 2018 69:451-464) seeking to understand protein S-nitrosylation as an enzymatically-regulated post-translational modification that alters protein functions broadly in physiology and in pathophysiology/disease, and to manipulate this for therapeutic benefit.
Project 1 examines protein-S-nitrosylation in regulating microvascular function and perfusion-oxygenation during normal aging versus neurodegenerative dementias. Desired expertise includes experience with mouse models of aging and neurodegeneration, brain microvasculature/neurovascular unit, and in vivo brain imaging.
Project 2 examines protein-S-nitrosylation in regulating G protein-coupled receptor signaling pathways, particularly in the lung (asthma) and heart (heart failure). Desired expertise includes experience with model cell systems and in vivo physiology of lung/heart, GPCR signaling pathway analysis, and biochemical/enzymology/proteomic methods.
Must have strong biochemistry or molecular biological experience, and a demonstrable history of original thought, discovery instincts, and cutting-edge insights.
Interested candidates should submit a cover letter indicating their estimated availability date and summarizing relevant research experiences and long-term career goals, along with a current CV indicating most important/relevant publications, and the names with contact information of three references, to Dr. Stamler, c/o Laura Dillon, firstname.lastname@example.org. Please indicate whether you are applying for Project 1 or Project 2.
