The Department of Medicine, Division of Endocrinology & Metabolism, at the University of Virginia seeks multiple highly motivated Post-Doctoral Research Associate to work in the laboratory of Helmy Siragy, MD.
Candidates must have a PhD in a scientific-related field or an MD. A minimum of 2 years’ postdoctoral experience and a record of publications in peer-reviewed journals is required. Experience working with small animals such as rodents and performing rodent kidney surgery, real time PCR analysis, optical imaging techniques, immunohistochemistry, western blot protein expression and analysis, cell culture, and in vitro gene expression and analysis is also required. A strong background in areas of renal physiology/pharmacology, renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system, diabetic nephropathy and inflammatory signaling pathway fields is highly preferred.
The candidate is expected to conduct independent research utilizing in vivo techniques to study diabetes and hypertension models and be involved in planning experiments. Duties also include writing and preparing manuscripts for scientific publication; assisting with grant applications; making presentations at local, regional and national levels; and supervising and training students and staff in a collaborative fashion within the laboratory.
